A few Sundays ago I ran (okay, I walked most of it) Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. It was my third time, and of course saw cool costumes, naked people (unfortunately), and lots of public drunkenness at 8 in the morning. I posted up a few pics on my flickr here.

teacups with feet
On my last trip to Berkeley, I stopped by Thousand Cranes Futon shop on Fourth street. It carries Japanese bedding, fabrics, and also ceramics. Bought this set of tea cups as a gift, and they've got feet! Love that little touch.

interesting drive
On my way to my parents' home after work, I saw a couple interesting things:
1. A guy flossing...using both hands...and driving! Maybe he's a dentist?
2. A black men's oxford shoe (without it's matching pair) on the shoulder. Maybe 30ft later, I saw the other shoe also on the shoulder. I guess if you lose one shoe, may as well throw out the other.

j.crew cardigans
Lately I've been in search for the perfect cardigan. I've been overusing this old A&F one I got from the outlet for $10, and it's definitely getting worn out. Here are my top picks from J.Crew. Love the bright, summery colors, but I really would like a boring grey one. Oh well, the search continues, but these may help make the wait more bearable.

sunglasses case

My second sewing project...a case for my niece's sunglasses. Again, this is a trial version, since there are a lot of mistakes. But I'll send it out to her now, because version 2.0 might take awhile at the pace I'm going. I just need to put velcro on it to secure the flap.
Doesn't the pattern remind you of the DS case I made? Hah, yeah, I think that's all I know how to do. Maybe I should buy this book.

falling roses
I visited my backyard tonight only to find my rose bush was practically on the ground. I thought the wind had knocked it down, but it seemed to be more because of all the blooming roses! I don't think I've seen that plant with so many flowers. So nice.

For the next batch of blooms, I'll have to cut them and bring them into the house so I can admire them close-up.

jin patisserie

A few weeks ago I visited LA and for the 2nd time, grabbed many bites to eat at Jin Patisserie. It's a cafe/bakery serving fine teas and scrumptious goodies (chocolates, cakes, sandwiches), all in a lovely garden patio. It's a must for any visit to LA.

eat well, live well
A group of us at work are doing the Eat Well Live Well Challenge. What is it? Well they give you a pedometer and you keep track of how many steps you walk each day, along with how many cups of fruits and vegetables you eat. It's just a little push to help you eat healthier and adopt a more active lifestyle. You can keep track of steps and cups on their website, and hopefully I can fill it up with high numbers.
So far today? 738 steps, 2.5 cups of fruits/veggies.

new scarf
I had some Banana Republic gift certificates laying around, so I thought they needed to be used today. Luckily, they're accepted by Gap. I chose this scarf from Gap's European Collection.

Looks lightweight enough for the warmer weather and I like the subtle plaid design. Plus, it's the first Tuesday of the month, which means an extra 10% off! Yays.
Get it at Gap, for $44.50. Use coupon code TUESDAYS if it's the first Tuesday of the month and you have a Gap/Old Navy/BR card.

rich piggy
I never had a piggy bank as a kid, but now I'm yearning for one to house my loose change. These are my top choices.

From top to bottom:
Porcelain Piggy Bank: The classic piggy bank shape. But guess what? To get your money out, you have to break it! Rare Device, $26
Moo o o Piggy Bank: So simple with its clean lines, and so cheap! MoMA Store, $6.95
Theosaurus Piggy Bank: Love the cork feet and how the pig is standing up. Your coins go through its nose - brilliant. There are a few designs, even a sitting pig. I prefer it standing though, in all white. A+R Store, $68.
Amigo Leather Piggy Bank: Made in Argentina, this little piggy will be able to take tumbles. Plus, get your coins out from below its tail. Clever. MoMA Store, $29.95.

my new bag?

I've been thinking about this bag for awhile. Why? I like the yellow/brown combination and that it looks like more than enough room to hold all my things, of which there are a lot! And it's made by 3.1 Phillip Lim, whom I am obsessing over lately.
What's funny is that this bag is in the men's section! It took me awhile to find it because I kept searching under the women's handbag category. But it's fine, that means less chance of someone else with the same bag.
Because of the suede material I'm thinking of using it more as a fall bag. Should I wait and see if it goes on sale? Or get it now? Hmm...
If you'd like, you can get it for me at eLuxury right now.
