grilled sandwich

A couple of weeks ago I went to Extraordinary Desserts in San Diego and had a grilled cheese sandwich. It had gruyere and a kick of mustard. So good. I've been craving it ever since, so I decided to make my own variation. It has more than just cheese, and is so easy to make.

What you'll need:
  • Ciabatta bread, cut into slices (I also tried it with a pugliese, but I prefer the ciabatta)
  • Prosciutto
  • Gruyere
  • Dijon mustard
  • Arugula
  • Olive oil
  • Nonstick pan
  1. Heat your pan on medium.
  2. Brush olive oil on one side of a slice of bread. Place it olive oil side down onto the warm pan.
  3. Spread dijon mustard onto the bread.
  4. Place gruyere, arugula, and prosciutto all over.
  5. Brush olive oil on another slice of bread. Place it olive oil side up, on top of the other slice.
  6. Check that the bottom slice is toasted to your liking, then flip the sandwich, and press down on the bread.
  7. Cook for a little bit, then enjoy!
P.S. This is great on a rainy day (like today, and yes, I have made it more than once this week). Also goes well with a roasted tomato soup!
